San Diego’s First Weekend of December Fun

Whether you call it December Nights or Christmas on the Prado, Balboa Park will be where much of the action and fun happens this weekend. If you like crowds you’ll love it. Susan DeVincent and Sherry Knight will do their radio shows on the Prado this Friday and Tony Martin will be there on Saturday. Try to get there early and bring a warm jacket or sweater. December nights get chilly in Balboa Park. Here’s what else is going on this weekend.

December 3

USO Giving Tree 12 p.m. to 4 p.m., The Headquarters at Seaport) The Headquarters at Seaport will celebrate the season with live entertainment and the spirit of giving Saturday, during this USO Giving Tree event. Attendees are invited to donate to the Giving Tree, which benefits USO San Diego, an organization that helps keep U.S. military service members connected to their families, home and country. Saturday’s entertainment includes a performance by students from Valhalla High School’s Quintet and Quartet from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m., and a show from the 3D Marine Aircraft Wing Jazz Combo from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m.
